Schoharie County

PictureYou never know who'll be on US 20
Schoharie County
Schoharie County has rolling land & is very scenic. In the north are large sections of high quality crop land. The Schoharie Creek, which is really a river, divides it east and west. This is one of the largest bodies of water in the US that flows north. It has good fishing there as well as safe canoeing in parts. The Cobleskill Creek, much smaller, divides it north and south. There are 2 show caves and many privately owned caves, including McFail’s, the longest cave in the northeast US with 7 miles of passage. There are many public campgrounds as well as golf courses.  Consider joining the Schoharie Valley Concert Band. Many residents commute as I88 gives quick and easy access to the Capital District, as does I 90 to the north. In it’s hilly southern reaches, there are many homes used by weekenders from the greater NYC area.
